Management Team
Lior Delgo
CEO and Co-Founder
As co-founder and CEO, Lior Delgo has brought together a team of the leading minds in computer vision, fast computation, and search in order to build www.videosurf.com, the first computer vision search engine for video. Lior brings his background in search and successful entrepreneurship to VideoSurf, where he leads the company vision, strategy and execution.
Prior to VideoSurf, Lior founded the first real time search engine for travel, FareChase, Inc. http://farechase.yahoo.com/. As co-founder and President, he took the company from concept to a successful acquisition by Yahoo! in August 2004. FareChase allows users to search travel offerings in real time from across the web and today powers one of the largest travel sites on the Web, Yahoo Travel. After the acquisition Lior served as Dir of Business Development at Yahoo focusing on monetization and search.
Professor Achi Brandt
Chief Scientist and Co-Founder
Based on his vast experience in scientific computation, Prof. Achi Brandt brings visionary and inventive designs to the diverse algorithmic developments at VideoSurf. Brandt received an M.Sc. degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1963 and a Ph.D. from the Weizmann Institute of Science in 1965. Following postdoctoral studies at New York University's Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, he joined the Weizmann Institute, where he went on to become a professor. At Weizmann he served as Head of the Pure Mathematics Department (1973-1975), Head of the Applied Mathematics Department (1978-1982) and Director of the Carl F. Gauss Minerva Center for Scientific Computation (1992-2004). Prof. Brandt has been a visiting scientist or professor at Stanford University, IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, NASA Langley Research Center, Colorado State University and Colorado University at Denver, and currently holds a Professor in Residence position at the UCLA Department of Mathematics. He has received the Landau Prize in Mathematics (1978), the Rothschild Prize in Mathematics (1990) and the SIAM/ACM Prize in Computational Science and Engineering (2005). The SIAM/ACM Prize, which is the highest international prize in this field, was established in 2003, and Brandt was its second winner (and first sole winner) ever. The citation for this prize reads that it was awarded to Prof. Brandt for "pioneering modern multilevel methods, from multigrid solvers for partial differential equations to multiscale techniques for statistical physics, and for influencing almost every aspect of contemporary computational science and engineering."
Dr. Eitan Sharon
CTO and Co-Founder
Dr. Eitan Sharon, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer for VideoSurf, has been leading the company's innovative computer vision technology and algorithmic development since its inception and has brought on board some of the brightest minds in these fields. Dr. Sharon took a leave of absence from the tenure-track Assistant Professorship he held between 2005 and 2007 at Technion - Israel Institute of Technology in the Department of Electrical Engineering (ranked among the top 7 Electrical Engineering departments worldwide) in order to lead VideoSurf's technology team.
Dr. Sharon received his B.Sc. in mathematics from Tel-Aviv University in 1995, where he graduated cum laude. He received his Ph.D. in computer science and applied mathematics from the Weizmann Institute of Science in 2002. From 2003 to 2004 Dr. Sharon was a Visiting Research Associate and taught at Brown University in the Division of Applied Mathematics. He then went on to hold a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship at the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute in Berkeley in 2005 and consecutive postdoctoral fellowships at both the University of California, Berkeley and the University of California, Los-Angeles during 2005-2006.
